[...] I do, however, make terrible impulsive purchases, especially at the bookstore and grocery store. I don’t really regret many of my book purchases, mind you. But I tend to go to the grocery store and freak out because I’m not sure whether I want this kind of juice or that kind of juice, and oh the yogurt looks good, and hm, now I don’t really want the cheese I came here to buy but I should get it cause I was already going to, and I end up getting both of the juices so I won’t have to choose and the yogurt even though I don’t really want it because what if I get home and I really DO want it and then I’m sad!
I hear that! But it's not as bad as it seems. Now it's just annoying to not have something I really want to read. Maybe I should blog about this stuff :)

I was worried I had too many books yet to read, but I think your 30% sounds about right. Anyway, you never want to run out of something to read. My biggest nightmare. Imagine the anxiety on top of anxiety.
Yikes!!!

Yeah, the rereading thing is funny. Some people (like you & me) swear by it; others won't even consider it because life is too short. My dad once interviewed me for 2 hours on this topic for a paper he was writing (he's a psych prof).

All right, I'm going to attempt to reply to the comment. :)

Oh, damn me: it looks like the plugin that lets people reply to a specific comment isn't working with this theme. Why oh why is it all so complicated? And it's not showing people's last blog posts either. Maybe if I disable and reenable all the plugins....

Well then, the old-fashioned way:

Mrs S - thanks! I adore it. I am glad I can help other people find decent themes, too. So many of them that I've tried all look the same, or flat-out don't work right, or leave out something I need. I'm learning a lot about creating themes by tweaking all of them tho! Someday I'll probably end up designing my own.

Julie: thanks! :-D Comfort re-reads are crucial. I think it's a good mix :) It's funny; my parents could never understand why I would want to read a book or watch a movie over again, because I already knew how it turned out. But I think it's the experience that's important, not the suspense!

Only as I had to start thinking about whether I had enough to fund my retirement did I really start to look at my book buying habits and decide that in future the library could do my book buying for me.

NICE new theme!

I also lean heavily towards comfort re-reads. I bet my shelves have a similar percentage.
